Sea Otter 2009

Let me be the first to complain…

I really love the Sea Otter road and circuit courses, but the tweaking of the schedule has me wondering what they were thinking.

When I looked at the original 2009 schedule about a month ago, the 35+ 1/2/3 road race was on Thursday afternoon and the circuit race was late Friday morning. That would have been great to get in 2 races and only have to stay in a hotel Thursday night, and still have the weekend free for a couple long rides near home.

But now, they’ve added a flat crit for those who don't go uphill as well and I guess what I’d call a “rest day” on Saturday to the schedule. The crit is on Thursday, the circuit race is on Friday and the road race has been moved to 7:30 AM on Sunday, so no going home after the circuit race and coming back Sunday morning unless I want to wake up at 3:30.

Hey, why not just add a TT on Saturday and make it a 4 day 4 stage race? Nor Cal could really use a stage race with some hills.
